Food
Fruits and vegetables, fish, meat and animal products may contain pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, mercury, PCBs, dioxins, BPA and DDT.
- Dangers
These substances disrupt the endocrine, neurological and reproductive systems. They can be carcinogenic, harmful to the soil and pollute groundwater. - What can I do to protect myself from carcinogenic chemical compounds?
You can buy locally grown organic products, plant a vegetable garden, opt for grass-fed fish and livestock as well as organic meat and poultry.
Many other industrial and chemically toxic compounds that are potentially carcinogenic are found everywhere in our homes: polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene, polyurethane, heavy metals, to name a few. The same advice holds true: limit the quantity of these compounds in your home.
