  • What can I do to protect myself from flame retardants?
When new laws come into effect (they are in the process of being enacted), it will be easier to obtain products free of flame retardant chemicals. In the meantime, it is best to opt for materials and products naturally fireproof: wool, cotton and burlap. You can also check with the manufacturer to determine the nature and content of their flame retardants; phosphorus, nitrogen or boron-based compounds are less harmful than bromine-based compounds.
